Spirair Introduces Next Iteration of SeptAlign, Shaped by Physician Feedback

Design enhancements to the implant and delivery system offer stronger anchoring, greater placement precision, and a sleeker, more ergonomic user experience

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 13, 2026 — Spirair, Inc. today announced the release of an updated version of SeptAlign®, its FDA-cleared, minimally invasive, cartilage-preserving septoplasty technology. The design enhancements to both the implant and its delivery system come directly from physician and clinical team feedback, reflecting Spirair's commitment to quickly turning customer input into meaningful improvements.

“At Spirair, we’re committed to continuous innovation, driven by close collaboration with the physicians who use our technologies,” said Benjamin Bishop, CEO of Spirair. “Their feedback helped us identify ways to improve SeptAlign’s performance in challenging anatomies while making it more intuitive and easier to use. From there, we moved quickly to turn these insights into meaningful design improvements.”

The updated SeptAlign features design enhancements to both the implant and its delivery system. A larger, redesigned distal anchor engages the septum more securely, creating a stable foundation as the implant is tensioned, while proximal anchors positioned closer together allow physicians to fine-tune the correction.  The delivery device has been reengineered to be easier to deploy, with a focus on ergonomics and more intuitive deployment steps.

SeptAlign is indicated for all cartilaginous septal deviations, including deviations in the caudal septum. It straightens the septum by repositioning cartilage to the midline without requiring resection, morselization, or scoring. Depending on the patient's clinical needs, SeptAlign can be used as a standalone septoplasty technique or in conjunction with traditional septoplasty approaches, such as cartilage removal, scoring, or disarticulation, to achieve optimal septal alignment. The bioresorbable polydioxanone (PDO) implant acts as a temporary brace, maintaining the septum in its corrected position as the cartilage remodels, and resorbs within six months.

The design enhancements build on a growing body of clinical evidence for SeptAlign. The recently published six-month results from the ongoing Vayu Study in Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology showed mean Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) scores improving from 67.5 to 23.6 (p < 0.0001), with no serious adverse device events and no unanticipated adverse events. Patients had a median return-to-work time of one day, and 97% said they would recommend the procedure to a friend or family member. (Data on file.)

The full six-month manuscript is available at https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/lio2.70579.

Spirair will exhibit the new SeptAlign at two upcoming meetings in Los Angeles. The first is the American Rhinologic Society (ARS) Annual Meeting, October 16–17, 2026, at the Biltmore Hotel [Booth #103]. The second is the AAO-HNSF 2026 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO, October 17–20, 2026, at the Los Angeles Convention Center [Booth #1916]. Attendees are invited to visit the Spirair booth to experience the updated SeptAlign firsthand.

About SeptAlign

SeptAlign is an FDA-cleared bioresorbable implant for the minimally invasive correction of cartilaginous nasal septal deviation. It applies mechanical traction to straighten and stabilize the septum without cartilage resection, and is gradually resorbed, leaving no permanent implant behind.
